He is the grandchild of Quebec potter Rosalie Namer&nbsp;(1925–2006), whose artistic kinship instilled in him an early aesthetic sensibility that included an appreciation of objects, a practice of epistolary writing, and a sympathy with flowers.&nbsp;His multidisciplinary practice often traces the affective contours of love and longing while facilitating bonds of kinship between his audience, figures from history, and himself, taking form through audio work, performance, participatory actions, epistolary writing, and flower arranging. Benny is a docent and postdoctoral researcher at&nbsp;KASK &amp; Conservatorium.&nbsp; Hervé Guibert was a French novelist, photographer, and photography critic. In 1977, he began writing a column about photography for Le Monde, and worked as the newspaper’s chief photo critic until 1985, writing about artists, writers, and philosophers such as Patrice Chéreau, Roland Barthes, Isabelle Adjani, Michel Foucault, Miquel Barceló, and Sophie Calle. He wrote more than twenty-five novels and short narratives, always in the first person. His 1990 novel&nbsp;To the Friend Who Did Not Save My Life&nbsp;brought him media acclaim and public notoriety for its thinly veiled portrait of his friend Michel Foucault and played a significant role in changing public attitudes in France toward AIDS.&nbsp;Alongside his writing, Guibert produced a corpus of photographic works, often documenting himself, his friends and lovers, and the sites where his creative and relational life took place: his Paris apartment, the Villa de Medici in Rome, and the Italian island of Elba. Fields is a Gordon Parks Foundation Scholar and has participated in residencies at Light Work, Baxter Street CCNY, Silver Arts Projects, Fountainhead Arts, and TILT Institute for the Contemporary Image among others. She received her MFA in Photography from Pratt Institute and is a professor of Photography at Howard University. Fields has given artist talks at the Aperture Foundation, Light Work, NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Parson’s New School, Syracuse University, and Stanford University. Her work has been published in the New York Times, Aperture Magazine, FOAM Magazine, and The Atlantic. Fields lives and works between Washington, D.C., and New York City. He likes to feel that his images are full of those who made them possible.” Samuel Gross for Innamorato Innamorato collects three separate recent projects by Allen Frame into one book, all of them using photographs found in fleamarkets in Rome. In each piece, Frame features a large collection of vintage photographs pertaining to a single family or individual, and mixes in his own contemporary photographs and perspective to explore personal narratives suggested by the images. Ennio includes pictures of four siblings in Italy in the late 1930s and early 40s, centered on the oldest brother, a pilot, his sister, and another pilot they may both be in love with. Two Sisters assembles photographs of two girls in the mid-1950s whose doting parents pose them in front of landmarks in Rome. Frame mixes in his own photographs of two adults in Florence today who may or may not be the same sisters reuniting. A third project, Piero, features vintage snapshots of one handsome young man in the late 1950s and 60s, posing on his boats or in the water with friends, along the Amalfi Coast. The artist juxtaposes these portraits of Piero with his own photographs of three young adults today, spending leisure time in similar locations, creating a link between the present and the past and animating the appropriated archive with his own seductive, cinematic images. Allen Frame is a photographer and writer, based in New York and represented by Gitterman Gallery, which, in 2022, has presented an exhibition of his black and white work from 1977-92.&nbsp; Frame is a winner of the 2017/2018 Abigail Cohen Rome Prize in Visual Arts from the American Academy in Rome; CECArtslink’s Back Apartment Residency in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 2019; and was a Director’s Guest at Civitella Ranieri in Italy in 2021. He has been the curator of numerous exhibitions, including, most recently, Love and Jump Back, the Photography of Charles Henri Ford, at Mitchell Algus Gallery in New York, and Shohei Miyachi and Context at Matte HQ in Brooklyn. In 1996 he curated the first retrospective of the work of Darrel Ellis at Art in General in New York. Private Stories, Public Histories is a follow up to the exhibition of the same name, which took place at FOTODOK from November 2020–February 2021. As the show largely happened during a lockdown, FOTODOK wanted to find alternative ways to open it up to our audience. We created a virtual tour where visitors could immerse themselves in the digital space. We also developed a platform that would provide a much-needed personal and tactile experience of the works. In other words—we translated the exhibition into printed matter. If you were unable to visit the show, it can now travel to you instead. ‘Pass It On’ is a collection of unbound materials. They are folded and brought together so that they can be “read” in a linear way, just like a book. But they can also be taken apart and placed on a wall, allowing you to enjoy a private exhibition at your own home or workspace. By bringing together large numbers&nbsp;of Latinos, the street generated power.” Olivia Cadaval for The Street Becomes The Street Becomes is the resulting project of a residence as a Smithsonian Artist Fellow in 2014. This body of work explores the changing character of the urban street in times of war and peace. The Street Becomes is entirely based on archival images. One part of the images comes from the private archives of local Washington DC photographers who documented the Latino Festival during the 70s and 80s. The second part comes from the US Marine Corps archives and documents the American military occupation of Central America and the Caribbean in the early 20th Century. An artistic intervention on these source images suggests new meanings for the street and examines the kind of contests that are predicated on overtaking and controlling public spaces. Jaime Permuth is a Guatemalan photographer living and working in New York City. Most recently, he was recognized as a Winner of the 2020 Urbanautica Institute Award. He is also a 2020 Adobe Creative Residence Community Fund recipient. In 2015 and 2016 he was a Winner of AI AP’s Latin American Fotografia Competition. In 2014, he was awarded a Smithsonian Institution Artist Fellowship and was also nominated for a USA Artists Fellowship. The source of the photographs in A Spiritual Good Time is from various surfing magazines published before 1990. The appropriated images from mass-printed surf culture is a meditation on the perpetual pursuit of pleasure. It is a blending of fear and desire within a sport that often focused on the heterosexual gaze, hyper-masculinity, localism and the gossamer tipped dream of all inclusiveness and spirituality. Through tight cropping and editing of the editorial tropes of surf photography, the images are re-contextualized into a loose narrative of the contradictory forces at play. Stephen Milner is an artist working in sculpture, photography, video and installation. He received his BFA in photography in 2013 from the Savannah College of Art and Design and his MFA in Studio Art from the University of Oregon where he was a Graduate Teaching Fellowship from 2015 to 2018. His work has been published online and in print by magazines like The Brooklyn Rail, ItsNiceThat! Praxiteles popularized this representation of the classical Goddess, where the statue is characterized by her modest gestures, which led her to hide with her hands, or with a piece of cloak, both her breasts and her genitals. This popular figure exemplified the modest virtues of the Goddess and, by extension, of women. Thus, values such as prudence or discretion have been cemented throughout the centuries as the feminine ideal.&nbsp; After studying these sculptures and their symbolism, and comparing those images with new social&nbsp;representations of women, shared through the internet and social media, Lombardia created a body of work entitle Impudens Venus, which represents and exemplifies the opposite ideal: constructing women who recognize themselves as impudent, imprudent and indiscreet. Therefore, these statues fragmented by history, are now complete with arms of women&nbsp;protesters, with limbs that no longer hide, but raise their fists closed, and their nakedness is covered only by powerful words written on their skin.
